Our Story
The idea for A Little Weather grew slowly over many years.
In 2015, my mum became seriously unwell. Friends and family kindly sent flowers, and they meant so much to us. But when someone is very ill, even small tasks can feel overwhelming. My mum wasn’t well enough to care for them, so my dad quietly took on the job instead. Before long, the flowers faded, and the reminder of such a thoughtful gesture disappeared too.
Years later, after my own operation, I found myself in exactly the same position. I was incredibly grateful for every bouquet I received, but I didn’t have the energy to look after them either.
It wasn’t that flowers weren’t appreciated. I just couldn’t help wondering if there was a better way to offer comfort that lasted longer. So I began imagining a different kind of gift.
One that could arrive quietly through the letterbox, without anyone needing to answer the door. One that didn’t create another task for someone already carrying enough. One that could be opened slowly, whenever it felt right. One that reminded someone they are not alone.
Why “A Little Weather”?
Here in Britain, we talk about the weather all the time. It felt like the perfect way to talk about our emotions too.
Some days are bright and hopeful. Others are heavy, uncertain or stormy. Sometimes it feels as though the clouds will never lift.
But just like the weather, our feelings aren’t permanent.
A Little Weather isn’t about trying to make someone feel happy or pretending everything is okay. It’s about accompanying someone through whatever today looks like. Whether it’s sunshine, showers or stormy skies. It is simply letting someone know,
“I’m here with you, whatever today’s weather.”

A Note from Christabel
Hello, I’m Christabel.
Alongside creating A Little Weather, I manage an NHS Talking Therapies service.
Every day, I see the courage it takes to get through difficult times. I have learnt that people don’t always need the perfect words or right advice. More often, they need to know someone is thinking of them and they don’t have to face things alone.
My hope is that every A Little Weather box offers comfort that lasts beyond the moment it is opened – a gentle reminder that, whatever today’s weather, someone is beside you.
With love,
Christabel
